Ambulance New Brunswick Opens New Station in Tracadie-Sheila

TRACADIE-SHEILA, NB – Ambulance New Brunswick’s new Tracadie-Sheila station is now officially open. Ambulance New Brunswick President and CEO Alan Stephen was joined by the Honourable Denis Landry, Minister of Transportation and His Worship Aldéoda Losier, Mayor of Tracadie-Sheila at the official opening ceremony.

“This new station is going to provide our paramedics with a world class facility that will assist them in serving the community with a high quality service” said Mr. Stephen. “We are extremely proud to provide a new standard in facilities and services that the community of Tracadie-Sheila and the province of New Brunswick expect and deserve.”

“Since November, we have opened new stations in Rogersville, Florenceville-Bristol, Cap-Pelé, Boiestown, Belledune and in June, we opened our new Fredericton Fleet Centre, Regional Office and Paramedic Quarters” added Mr. Stephen.

“New Brunswickers should be very proud of the ambulance service they have access to in this province” said Minister Landry. “Ambulance New Brunswick runs a world-class ambulance service with some of the best-trained, most dedicated paramedics, dispatchers, flight nurses and support services personnel in the country.”

The new station in Tracadie-Sheila is an ICF (insulated concrete forms) construction and is resistant to hurricane-force winds and seismic loads. The building has in-floor heating throughout. Furthermore, the exhaust system in the three bay garage is ultra modern as it removes both vehicle exhaust fumes and garage humidity automatically. The garage also has an NO2 detector system which will make an audible alarm warning if exhaust fumes get too high.

“We are proud to have this new high-quality ambulance station in Tracadie-Sheila, and we appreciate Ambulance New-Brunswick’s commitment to our region”, said Mayor Losier.

Ambulance New Brunswick was created by the Government of New Brunswick in December 2007 to deliver a world-class land, air and emergency dispatch ambulance service throughout the province. Today, Ambulance New Brunswick has more than 1000 paramedics stationed across the province. Every year, they respond to more than 100,000 calls. The air ambulance service performs more than 700 emergency calls every year and flies nearly 600,000 kilometres transporting sick and injured patients to specialized hospital care across the Maritimes and as far as Toronto, London and Montreal.
