New Brunswick EMS Hires 19 Safety Operations Coaches
MONCTON, NB – New Brunswick EMS (NB EMS) is pleased to announce that 19 Safety Operations Coaches have been hired throughout New Brunswick. Under the direction of the Manager of Safety Programs, the Safety Operations Coaches will provide coaching to employees in the areas of patient and public safety, safe vehicle operations, safety education and other safety related activities.
The key role of the Safety Operations Coaches will be to establish an embedded culture of safety, enhance front line provider capabilities and promote employee development through an ongoing coaching process.
“Engaging the paramedics, flight nurses and emergency medical dispatchers on a daily basis to improve patient safety is critical to our success” said Mr. Alan Stephen, President and CEO of Ambulance New Brunswick. “These new Safety Operations Coaches will help us achieve that”.
The Safety Operations Coaches will also work closely with the Joint Occupational Health & Safety Committee and provide guidance and mentoring to staff, as well as supporting and participating in safety research initiatives.
Ambulance New Brunswick was created by the Government of New Brunswick in December 2007 to deliver a world-class land, air and emergency dispatch ambulance service throughout the province. Ambulance New Brunswick has more than 900 paramedics stationed across the province. Every year, they respond to approximately 100,000 calls. The air ambulance service performs approximately 600 emergency calls every year, transporting sick and injured patients to specialized hospital care across the Maritimes and as far as Toronto and Montreal.
