Ambulance New Brunswick Opens New Station in Harvey
HARVEY, NB – Ambulance New Brunswick’s (ANB) new Harvey station is now officially open. ANB’s President and CEO, Alan Stephen was joined by York MLA, Carl Urquhart (representing the Honourable Madeleine Dubé, Minister of Health) and Mr. Richard Corey, Mayor of Harvey at the official opening ceremony.
“Ambulance New Brunswick is very proud to provide this top-notch building to our paramedics. Our dedicated personnel deserve the best tools and facilities possible so they can deliver a world class service to New Brunswickers,” said Alan Stephen, President and CEO of ANB.
Six new stations have been opened since last summer (Boiestown, Belledune, Tracadie-Sheila, Stanley, Petitcodiac and Kingston). In the upcoming months, ANB looks forward to adding Hartland, St-Léonard and Hampton to this list.
“I am confident the residents of the Harvey region will be well served with this new ambulance station,” said Carl Urquhart, MLA for York, on behalf of Health Minister Madeleine Dubé. “This is another example of the dedication this government has to emergency services not only to this province, but to this community. This new station will provide the best resources for our paramedics that devote themselves to this community every day.”
The new station in Harvey is resistant to hurricane-force winds and seismic loads. The building has in-floor heating throughout. Furthermore, the exhaust system in the one bay garage is ultra modern as it removes both vehicle exhaust fumes and garage humidity automatically. The garage also has an NO2 detector system which will make an audible alarm warning if exhaust fumes get too high.
“On behalf of the citizens of the Village of Harvey, I would like to thank Ambulance New Brunswick for reaffirming its commitment to our area by building a new station in Harvey” said Mr. Corey.
Ambulance New Brunswick was created by the Government of New Brunswick in December 2007 to deliver a world-class land, air and emergency dispatch ambulance service throughout the province. Today, Ambulance New Brunswick has more than 900 paramedics stationed across the province. Every year, they respond to nearly 100,000 calls. The air ambulance service performs more than 500 emergency calls every year transporting sick and injured patients to specialized hospital care across the Maritimes and as far as Toronto and Montreal.
